River Pinn Outfall Safari 2026
The Zoological Society London (ZSL) are looking for volunteers to help identify hidden pollution to improve and protect the River Pinn.
Volunteers will survey from March to May 2026 and can choose which stretch of the river to survey and when to carry out the survey. Surveys take place from riverside paths where access and visibility allow.
All volunteers must attend a short in person training session at 13:30 – 15:30pm on Thursday 12th March 2026 at Eastcote House Gardens, High Road, Pinner HA5 2FE. You can find all the details and link to sign up here: River Pinn Outfall Safari 2026 Training Day in Eastcote
Join their Outfall Safari training day to learn how to spot and report river pollution, helping to protect and improve our local rivers. Outfall discharges are a major but frequently overlooked source of river pollution.
Pollution can enter urban rivers through surface water outfalls (drains), often as a result of misconnected plumbing. This is a frequently overlooked source of pollution that can cause long-term, chronic damage to our rivers and wildlife.
Outfall Safaris are bankside surveys that aim to locate and assess surface water outfalls, helping to identify polluted discharges so they can be investigated and remediated. By taking part, you’ll play a direct role in improving the health of local rivers.
This training event will equip volunteers with the knowledge and skills needed to take part in Outfall Safari surveys.
