Project description

Thames EU (internal). River Colne at Troy Lake: Riparian Restoration and Enhancements. Enhancing the site for nature and the local community.

Originally intended as installation of an eel pass, this project has evolved into a partnership with Herts CC the EA and the funders, Thames, to deliver a range of on-site upgrades and enhancements including the installation of a monitored trash barrier to protect the existing fish pass and weir infrastructure, river bank and footpath restoration to improve access and protect the riparian zone from erosion, and participation in a national scheme to save the black polar, the UK’s only native poplar species.
