3. Litter Boom at Oxhey Park

Aim: Improve wildlife corridors

Water body: River Colne
Project description

The installation of litter boom on the Colne  in Oxhey Park to trap rubbish, allowing clearance where the  river enters the park.

Fixing a black floating debris barrage to either bank of the Colne, using a scaffold pole sunk into a 1 metre deep augered hole and secured, extending 1 metre from the ground. A slip ring (marine grade 316 stainless steel) connected to each pole, linking to the boom via a steel link chain to either bank, and allowing the boom to rise and fall dependent on river level.
