Aims: Improve wildlife corridors; Work together

Water body: River Misbourne
Project description

Management of riverside trees to improve habitat along a heavily shaded section of the R. Misbourne.

The Chilterns Chalk Streams Project carried out a programme of tree management along the leat of Chalfont Mill to increase the amount of light reaching this shaded section of the river.  The work, completed in May 2011, included clearance of scrub and the pollarding of willows.  Pollarding is an ancient technique to manage crack willow trees to increase the life of this fast growing species
