Project description

Scheme to enhance habitat in a side stream of the R. Chess for fish and wildlife.

 Volunteers from local businesses led by the River Chess Association completed a series of work parties to enhance instream habitat of an overwide section of side stream alongside the main R. Chess. The work involved installing woody debris structures into the river to create holding areas for fish, provide cover and narrow the channel to concentrate flow.  A number of willow stakes were also planted to provide shading along this open reach of river.
