Aim: Improve wildlife corridors

Project description

Improvement works to floodplain vegetation and out of channel pool managed for biodiversity and amenity:

1. In channel improvement works consisting of the installation of wooded materials to re-profile the river channel and restore natural morphological processes.
2. The removal of shading trees to increase light levels to the river channel in order to allow aquatic plant life to flourish.
3. The installation of gravel riffles to restore the rivers natural substrate and natural morphological processes.
4. The provision of backwaters to provide lateral habitats adjacent to the river to mimic the function of a natural floodplain, to provide fish recruitment habitat and to provide refuge habitat for all aquatic wildlife.
5. The removal of invasive species.
6. The disposal of all rubbish and fly tipping at the site.
