Channel Clearance in Gadebridge Park
The Environment Agency recently carried out channel clearance on the Gade through Gadebridge Park in preparation for the installation of a new monitoring weir.
This new monitoring weir will measure the flows within the chalk stream for a period of at least 12 months. This data will be used to compare flows recorded on the newly relocated Environment Agency gauging station (Bury Mill flume), as part of the proposed river restoration project.
All site investigations have now been completed with the exception of trenching along the proposed route of the realigned channel and ground investigations within the proposed wetland to the north of the park. We expect these to take place in March 2020. All going well, and if additional funding is secured, we hope to have draft detailed designs available by July.
