Floating Pennywort Removal- Canoe & Bankside Volunteering *** postponed ***

Join us for a fun and rewarding day to help remove the pesky pennywort from the Grand Union Canal in Hemel Hempstead to continue the eradication process. 

This is another joint venture with Hemel Canoe Club and volunteers to remove pennywort in the lower stretch of the Grand Union Canal. 

Experienced canoeists are welcome to bring along a canoe/kayak/paddle board and help from the water, or you can just bring yourself and help from the bank/towpath, as both play an important role on the day.

If you let us know in advance, it may be possible to borrow a paddleboard from the canoe club and have a go at collecting pennywort from the water with a bit of training on the day. You will have to bring your own wetsuit/drysuit.

Bank volunteers should wear suitable outdoor clothes/sturdy footwear. Waterproof trousers/jacket would be good if you have them, or bring a spare change of clothes just in case you get a bit damp from pulling the pennywort out of the water. 

Waterproof gloves and equipment will be provided.

We will be offering hot drinks and biscuits, but please note that toilets are limited on the day.
