27. Lower Misbourne habitat enhancements

Aim: Improve wildlife corridors

Water body: River Misbourne
Project description

River enhancements to improve habitat from upstream of the Colne Valley Park Visitor Centre to the confluence with the Colne.

Improvements will include:

-Tree works to allow more light to reach over shaded sections of the river. This will encourage riparian and in channel vegetation growth which is key to supporting chalk stream wildlife such as water voles.

- In channel habitat enhancements to improve the diversity of habitats and flow types. The river in this reach lacks instream diversity of habitats, so through e.g. installation of woody habitat features this will be improved.

- Investigate what impact the weir is having on fish passage and habitat quality upstream and implement a solution to minimise or eliminate these impacts.
